There are two females at the zoo, one African and one Asian, and I am curious as to how that arrangement will affect the zoo's future accreditation. The recommendation from AZA is for a minimum of 3 elephants, and naturally of the same species, and so the tiny enclosure at the Louisville Zoo will have to be assessed in the near future.
Interesting to see that they put up a fence around the exhibit. When I visited back in 2005 or 2006 it was just a dry moat. I wonder when they put up the fence?
The Louisville Zoo has such a great collection and so much space but a lot of it is quite disappointing.
Gorilla Forest and Tiger Tundra are awesome exhibits.Islands is decent and with Glacier Run being completely done in two weeks Louisville has alot of good things going for it.Like Kudu pointed out the Zoo has alot of land and one would think a African Savannah would be next on the zoo's agenda.
