The zoo has plans to convert this exhibit into one for colobus monkeys by 2018, and it seems that some of the very last woolly monkeys will be gone from American zoos. Are there many left in the United States?

I feel privileged to have seen them in 2010 and Woolly Monkeys have always been notoriously difficult to maintain in captivity. In Jeremy Keeling's biography he discusses how Monkey World in Dorset, England, has had great breeding success over the years but the special diet of the primates has been a major challenge for a variety of other zoos.
The way I traveled in the zoo, I almost passed this exhibit. I went back to it to see what was on the island and when I went inside, I was so happy that I did because there were the wooly monkeys.
