Memphis Zoo - Bengal Tiger Exhibit

July 2008.
This is how i'd like toronto zoo's sumatran tiger habitat but with more shade

The typical, southern U.S., ruined temple tiger exhibit...pretty but lacking in enrichment.

I am sure the tigers enjoy sitting under the waterfall on a scorching hot Memphis day. That answer your question?

No animal in its right mind would voluntarily sit under a loud, pounding, high volume "waterfall" as shown in the picture. A quiet shallow stream or pool--absolutely. This exhibit combines two of the most egregious cliches too commonly found in (mostly) US zoos: stupidly unrealistic "waterfalls" and cheap-looking theme park "exotic ruins." Spare me please......

Wanna bet, at the Cleveland Zoo the tigers do all the time, and that waterfall doesn't look too pounding Mr. Pessimist.
