The aviary for snowy owls (Bubo scandiacus) in ZOO Antwerpen. The smaller Bird of Prey Aviaries are easily the dullest and worst functioning exhibits in the zoo.

The Bird of Prey aviaries that were originally built as part of the Jubilee Complex which opened in 1968 to celebrate the zoo’s 125th anniversary (also including the Nocturama, Aquaforum and Carnivore exhibits).

ZOO Antwerpen, July 2011.

Looks like a good Snowy Owl aviary; nice & dry with a good substrate. They don't like wet muddy conditions and are not keen on rain.

Well, it is only dry until it rains more than a slight drizzle in which case it will be muddy. Also, it is quite narrow meaning that one animal could easily block off another. Finally, there is hardly any room to fly.
