ZOO Antwerpen - Carnivore exhibit (Lion)

The former exhibit for lions (Panthera leo) in ZOO Antwerpen. This small exhibit is a perfect example of how much wasted space a water moat can claim as the moat here makes up about 2/3 up the exhibit.
This photo is now historic as the lions moved to their brand new exhibit a few weeks after this picture was taken.

The Carnivore exhibits were originally built for big cats and bears as part of the Jubilee Complex which opened in 1968 to celebrate the zoo’s 125th anniversary (also including the Nocturama, Aquaforum and Bird of Prey Aviaries). The bears and lions have already received new exhibits and the tigers and leopards are next in line.

I'm please to hear the cats are no longer living here, but do you know what is in this enclosure now?

I visited earlier this year and I believe bat-eared foxes have moved into this exhibit. The moat's been filled in and actually creates a pretty big exhibit for such a small species.
