Entomyzon cyanotis / Blue-faced honeyeater

This species really surprised me at Antwerp Zoo. I never expected to see a species that I was used to seeing around the school yard in a Belgian zoo. I was similarly surprised about Australian magpies.

I was also surprised but have seen it in at least one other European zoo but can't remember which one. The Australian magpies are kept in a small group which i assume is a family - anyway, they've done their research.

Blue-faced honeyeaters are kept at Edinburgh Zoo at least as I've seen them in both of my visits (2010 and 2012), in fact my photograph of them remains the only photograph to have been used by a zoo for their own media:

Well done! I can't claim to have had any of mine used but you never know.

so they pick out photos that have been posted on their Facebook page? I think that's a nice idea, I'm sure it makes their "fans" feel like they are really connected to the zoo.
