Bonnie and I have not been to the Milwaukee County Zoo in about two years at which time construction had begun on what we thought was the underwater hippo exhibit.Now considering that the project is still not done we are not sure what has transpired with the project and any info on it would be appreciated.
@team tapir: That piece of construction you guys saw was for an extension of the hippos' indoor space, complete with a new pool and showers. However, I saw it and I believe that it's the biggest waste of a million dollars I ever saw. You look into a glass window, which has a terrible glare, at a pool that doesn't look like a hippos natural habitat. And, there's huge metal bars in the way of viewing. What a joke! With the new outdoor "cage trail" for bonobos and the zoo procrastinating with the underwater hippo exhibit, I kind of have a bad feeling about the future of my home zoo.
@chizlit: I'm not sure. My thought was to eliminate the next door warthog exhibit as an expanded hippo exhibit. Part of that would be used as the pool guests can look at the hippos underwater.
