This area held red pandas when the species first arrived in Milwaukee in 2002. Ever since they moved to their current exhibit in 2005, it has sat empty.
Has the Milwaukee Zoo made any announcements about their plans for future exhibits or are there any rumors about what their plans are for elephants, etc.?
@DavidBrown: A couple weeks ago, the Zoo announced plans for a second entrance on the west side of the Zoo property. A new habitat for North American river otters will be a part of the project - thank goodness they're getting out of that hideous all-indoor tank! There is also a photo in the gallery of a sign that shows what the renovated black bear exhibit will look like. Other than that, I unfortunately haven't heard anything regarding elephants or any other projects mentioned.
