It is certainly better than 90% of the exhibits at this zoo that adores mock-rock "mountains", but the lack of cover and tall climbing structures stops it from being truly great.
Glad to see the Red Pandas finally got their own exhibit. I remember when they lived in the Small Mammal House and the moat in front of the camels - the exhibits were ill-fit but the pandas seemed happy as clams.
I did forget to mention one thing in my update. This year's annual appeal will be to update the red panda habitat; more climbing opportunities, shady areas, and a railing that will replace the glass front will make up the renovation job. It will also allow for female red pandas to be brought in for breeding.
While I am glad the exhibit will be improved and allow for breeding to finally start (I've only seen red panda cubs in photos and they are cute!), I don't think putting money towards the red pandas was the wisest choice. In my opinion, there's a black bear exhibit renovation that was being talked about for a couple years, a second entrance complex waiting to get started, along with way more exhibits that need a makeover/replacement way more than the red pandas need it.
