I've read that the Minnesota Zoo has built their entrance such that visitors encounter several exhibits of active, charismatic species to draw them into the zoo. The species mentioned were snow monkeys, African penguins, and meerkats. Is this the meerkat exhibit at the entrance complex? What do they do when winter comes?
This meerkat exhibit was located in the Central Plaza area, which serves as the entrance to Russia's Grizzly Coast, but I'm not sure that it is in existence anymore. Almost all of the zoo's African animals are located in the Tropics Trail building, although some summers the zoo essentially rents animals seasonally (giraffe, ostrich, antelope, etc) and that might well be the case here as well.
@DavidBrown The area were the Meerkats once called home is now a playground known as “Woodland Adventure”. Meerkats haven’t been in the collection since 2009, but are supposed to return in the near future.
