Monterey Bay Aquarium - Wild About Otters

August 2008. A fairly new gallery full of exhibits, including 2 more otter species to go along with the sea otters in another section of the aquarium.

Usually they keep these type of exhibits for years, as for example their "Jellyfish in Art" gallery is closing down this weekend after 4.5 years. There will be a period of nothing, before a seahorse gallery opens up. The otter gallery must have cost millions as it's beautifully done, but 2 years ago when I was there it contained something like 22 species of shark. So I'm assuming that sadly the otters will be gone in 5 years and will be replaced by something else.

I think this is a good thing for the aquarium as it keeps people coming back, but I think 22 species of sharks would have been great to keep as not that many aquariums have that many sharks.
