Estimado Vogel, another fine photograph to document the history of teporingos in animal collections. In the early eighties the volcano rabbit colony had just been established at Chapultepec zoo, so these teporingos must have come from Mt. Popocateptl or Jersey zoo.
Do you remember any information on their origin ?
During May 1978 15 animals were send from a Mexican laboratorium to Antwerp but one was killed by another during the flight. During quarantaine a further 6 animals died. November 1978 a further animal died and the remaining animals were 2 males and 5 females.
They have bred succesfull at Antwerp ( at least 4 young raised ) but I have to look in my notes for more information.
