Riber Castle in the UK bred them in some numbers, but ultimately sent the vast majority of their animals back to Spain in the late 1980s when nowhere else was interested in working with the species; I believe Pont-Scorff in France did get one or two animals from them though, these being the last animals held outside the Iberian peninsula.

There was talk of London having them in one of the proposals for government money at the time of the closure crisis in 1991. That came to nothing, though.
