The sign says "animals temporarily off exhibit" and that was due to the fact that the tapirs had a baby last summer. This large enclosure presents fantastic viewing opportunities with zero obstructions between the tapirs and humans, a nearby pool to encourage soaking in Tennessee's hot summers, and a perimeter fence partly covered by foliage. There is even a woodland aspect to the exhibit as there are quite a few tall trees that present shade areas for the tapirs.
