I did plan to have the critter in the shot, and the alligator exhibit at Nashville Zoo (like pretty much all of the exhibits at that facility) is excellent.
Just some insight: this exhibit used to hold North American River Otters, several years ago, just before I moved to Tennessee. After a period of nothing, it went through a bit of renovation and opened with a lot of very young alligators. As the size of the alligators increased, their numbers decreased. Eventually, fish and turtles were also added to this excellent exhibit. It has viewing points on two sides, one of which provides above and below water viewing (you can usually find a gator in front of it). The only complaint I have is the underwater viewing doesn't allow for much of a view.
