Wetlands - Spectacled Owl Exhibit

Some of the exhibits appear to be very impressive, while others (Spectacled Owl, Andean Condor, Kookaburra, etc.) are downright dreadful. Your review provided a summary of this hit-and-miss establishment, although any zoo enthusiast in the area would make it a must-see out of curiosity and also just to tick off another zoological facility on their all-time list. One thing that strikes me is that many of the signs appear to be quite large and colourful.

Wetlands -- Spectacled Owl Exhibit

It's hard to imagine this as anything other than a temporary enclosure. No sheltered roosting area up high [which owls like], no substrate for them to dig around in [which owls like], and the floor will be difficult to keep clean.

And the potted plants give it away :) Has anyone visited on a few occasions and can confirm that these exhibits or their inhabitants come and go quite regularly.

Sadly and unfortunately for the spectacled owls this is not the case. This has been the permanent home since the last 5-6 years. The other cage where the hornbill was at from the pictures, seems to be just a exhibit to house a species for just a month or two. Currently it has a Injured Rescue Female Red-Tailed Hawk and it before that there was a Black-throated Magpie Jay.
