Kingdom of Penguins

This fine aquarium building is located in Newport, Kentucky, on the bank of the Ohio River just across from Cincinnati, Ohio. The final exhibit along the building path is this nice Antarctic penguin exhibit behind glass with a roomy viewing amphitheater in front.

This exhibit was recently redone and is now called "Penguin Palooza." There is also a new live penguin presentation called "Penguin Encounters," which will include nine African Penguins. Rockhopper Penguins and Inca Terns have joined the aquarium's King, Gentoo, and Chinstrap Penguins on exhibit. The rockwork was redone and a LED lighting grid was installed to conserve energy. This new lighting system will also include a new lighting cycle which will include the Aurora australis. New interactive signage, maps, and statues have been installed to help educate the public about penguins and their habitats.

I don't think the exhibit is any bigger. I think they just renovated the interior. I haven't seen the exhibit in person yet, but I plan on heading down there pretty soon.

If you haven't seen it or my photos, just to tell you it is FANTASTIC!, it has a fake ice wall at the back of the exhibit. Even the king penguins swim a lot (which they are only expected to do twice a year). It is also the 2nd most diverse cold-weathered penguin exhibit. Behind Sea world San diego
