I am not attacking anyone. We are trying to teach you. We asked what justification you have for making a claim. You got defensive. You've now made yourself out to look like an internet troll by not being able to understand the simple questions asked by people who have far more zoo experience than you do. Again, we are trying to teach not to drive away.
You are correct, this is a public forum. That means there must be two-way conversation. When asked to back up your claim, you must provide evidence.
The best way to persuade your audience is by using correct facts, data, figures, etc. This can be coupled with emotional appeals as well as ethical, but in the grand scheme of things, facts must win. Facts and data can be proven correct or incorrect, feelings and opinions cannot. You, however, cannot win an argument writing like a 9th grader.
As for personal lists, I do not keep them any more. Zoos are dynamic, changing creatures. I've learned that I cannot judge one based on a single visit, or even multiple visits spaced over multiple years, nor can I judge a zoo based on photos from ZooChat, for I've often found that when I finally see the zoo in person, I have completely different experience.
Moral of the story, learn when others are trying to teach. Questioning (the so-called Socratic method) is one of the highest and most effective forms of learning, for it forces you to act introspectively and come up with reasons to conclusions that you formed intuitively.
I see you're point, but I'm not trying to force my opinions on anyone. Im merely stating my appreciation for this zoo, and the level I thing it deserves to be on. Im not judging it for you, gerenuk, zoogirraffe, or anyone. Im just stating what I believe to be true, not what I'm trying to preach to every zoochatter out there. If you have opinions on the exhibits, I'd love to hear them. That's what comments are for, aren't they?
You also claimed that Henry Doorly is the biggest zoo in the world, and when corrected justified your claim by saying that by size, you meant naturalness and enrichment
What? I said I thought it was the biggest since I had read it in a news headline, then learned that it wasn't from the other posts here. What I did say was that, based on those criteria, I believed NC to be the best.
