Now that Toronto Zoo is getting giant pandas for 5 years (2013-2018) and if they have not bred that same pair will be at the Calgary Zoo for 5 years (2018-2023) is there any chance of this Californian enclosure ever holding that species? Oakland Zoo specifically built this exhibit for the black-and-white bears only for the Chinese government to pull the plug...but are pandas now forgotten about at this zoo?

I don't think that anybody realistically is expecting pandas at Oakland; this is based on asking people there this question.
It seems like the U.S. panda appetite has been satisfied with the current panda exhibits. From what I've read here it sounds like Omaha and Woodland Park have given up on whatever panda plans they had?
After LA Zoo's rotten experience the Chinese government reneging on golden monkeys, I would guess that U.S. zoos would think twice about any new ventures with them, but that is just conjecture on my part.
