The paddocks for the indian and black rhinos are certainly spacious, and it will be interesting to see what this area looks like after the $23 million Asian section opens in 2011. The elephant paddock next door is definitely receiving a major makeover.
I dont believe this enclosure will be part of the new Asia exhibits. Maybe the zoo will bring back or move other hoofstock displaced by the Oklahoma and Asia exhibits into these enclosure...obviously the Black Rhinos will probably stay. But there will still be Australian, South American, and/or African exhibits that may be part of the zoo's future. Has anyone seen Oklahoma City's masterplan?
It would be a shame if the Indian rhinos lost their spacious paddocks at the Oklahoma City Zoo, as compared to many other rhino enclosures in North America the pachyderms have some of the largest exhibits of any urban zoo.
