I hate this exhibit. It strikes me as the ultimate example of an animal being used as stage-dressing.
On my visit here, a good number of visitors attempted to wallop the thing as they walked underneath it - as you would, possibly, to a low-hanging branch.
I know the Lied Jungle has its fans, but this can't be the best of reptile husbandry.
I agree that it is a dumb exhibit design, as most people I saw didn't notice it until I took some pictures. And it is also way too small. But other parts of the Lied Jungle are great for reptiles, like the blood python exhibit.
