Red-necked Stints and Red-capped Plovers

24/07/2016
Rottnest Island
I\'ve spent ages going through two different field guides to try and work this out but I\'m still not sure. I hate identifying waders.
The one on the left is a Red-capped Plover of course.
I believe these two are the same species as the one in the other picture but are different individuals. I don\'t have any different views of these individuals.

I think they're red-necked stints. I can't see what else they would be really.

well there's four (?) species of stints recorded in Australia but only the red-necked is likely. With their size I would be happy with it. I might suggest posting on Birdforum for some other opinions (from better wader IDers than me!).

I posted on BirdForum and got an agreement and I'm pretty happy with that ID too so I'll go with Red-necked Stint. :)
