Both the Malayan tapir and Baird's tapir have very nice pools but a limited amount of land space in Lied Jungle, and the zoo could avoid a lot of criticism by simpling removing the larger animals. However, I believe that it is due to the destructive nature of the tapirs that they are relegated to the bottom tier of the exhibit, or else the landscape would be dramatically altered by their rambling across the terrain.
