This looks awful. Henry Doorly is often rated by numerous sources as one of the top zoos in the country. I have never been (and have no desire to) but from everything I have seen there is nothing that great about it. Why all the high praise - am I missing something?
How about the designer who designed this enclosure or any one of the people on this site who overlook the requirements for meeting animal basic needs and say this is a great zoo!
I have visited and was hugely disappointed by most of the zoo, as we often hear the desert dome is bad however there are also incredibly small bear enclosures and outdated large cat enclosures and the Leid Jungle that looks very impressive but still has some very small spatial areas for the animals.
A lizard would be well suited in that exhibit. Maybe chuckwallas or a group of swifts. I do agree though that black-footed cats should never be exhibited in such a space, such an endangered cat should be exhibit in a more luxurious exhibit.
The thing I really dislike about this is that the animals are little more than scenery in a fake landscape that might look amazing to visitors but in substance is no different to a concrete cage.
