Caracal Exhibit

March 4th, 2010.
Thanks for all the Predators of the Serengeti photos! Any idea why this viewing area has openable window?

I really enjoyed my visit to Predators of the Serengeti in March, as the lions, cheetahs, African wild dogs and caracals are all great additions to a solid zoo in Portland. I'm not sure why the caracal exhibit has an openable window, but perhaps that is so visitors can toss unruly children into the enclosure!:) This is one of the larger and more naturalistic small cat exhibits I've seen in a long time, and I didn't even see one of the cats on my visit.

In my opinion this could be one of the best if not the best exhibit for Caracals. The grass has grown out alot and the zoo's female is usually hiding from the visitors until the Dwarf Mongoose tunnel opened up and she is always around it once the mongoose are out.
