Great Northwest - Bald Eagle Exhibit

March 17th, 2011.
Now there's a first: underwater eagle viewing! ;)

This award-winning exhibit (Eagle Canyon) has an aviary with zero obstructions between the two eagles and human visitors. Then there is a pathway that leads down to the bottom half of the aviary and inside the deep pool are a few large sturgeon and loads of salmon. It is possible to still see the eagles above their pool. After that the cave-like area winds around exhibits for river otters, beavers, ringtails, barred owls, and a series of small terrariums before emerging into a walk-through waterfowl aviary and finally coming to an end at the black bear and cougar habitats. The whole Great Northwest section of the zoo is hugely impressive!
