Predators Of The Serengeti - Terrariums

March 17th, 2011.
What are the baskets and things in the cubbyholes beneath the terrariums? Are those items meant for kids to play with them?

Had you seen these exhibits back when they were originally Alaska exhibits? If so, do you like them better as African predator exhibits?

I believe it's largely theming. As far as the exhibit back when it was Alaska, at least the towering Douglas Firs looked like they belonged.

I am quite a fan of Predators of the Serengeti, as there are above average exhibits for lions, cheetahs, African wild dogs and caracals, as well as hornbills, a rock python, mongooses and a variety of terrariums. There are huge viewing windows in the main habitats and lots of cool theming elements throughout. I visited the zoo when this section was an Alaskan tundra area and it was cool seeing a grizzly bear, wolves and muskox up against large coniferous trees but the new setup is my preference.
