Oregon Zoo opened a relentless number of exhibits for many years (black bear, cougar, bobcat, Wilds Pigs of Asia, Predators of the Serengeti, etc) but Red Ape Reserve was two years ago and the zoo has been fairly quiet since then. The new master plan looks impressive, a veterinary hospital has opened, and something like 30% of the staff has been fired/left and it will begin its next major development phase (rhinos, polar bears, condors, chimps, elephants) early in 2013.

Check out page 3 of this thread for all of the information. With 17 firings and 16 resignations within a couple of years the staff turnover at Oregon Zoo has been huge during a very tumultuous time for the facility.
