snowleopard or anyone else with Oregon Zoo knowledge: did the river otter and beaver exhibits get renovated during the building of the Cascades exhibit, or were they left pretty much as they were?

The original circa 1982 Cascade exhibit building (beavers, otters, fish, herps) is largely intact within the much larger "mountains to the sea" complex that was built in stages in the late 90s/ early 00s. It was "award-winning" in the early 80s, and is still very nice. The otter and beaver exhibits are essentially the same as when they first opened.
The beaver/otter/fish/herps zone is still top-notch even 30 years later, and the bald eagle exhibit that is seen from both below and above the pond is borderline spectacular. Later additions have included habitats for black bears, bobcats, cougars, Rocky Mountain goats, elk and wolves. The whole area is called Great Northwest and it seems that most people are in agreement that it is the best part of the entire zoo.
