Aviaries Outside the Bird House

Taken 12th August 2015
Do you have a list of species kept in these aviaries? They look to be modernised since my last visit

Yes, I do.

1st Aviary: Guira Cuckoo, Grey-winged Trumpeter, Red-billed Toucan, Northern Cardinal.

2nd Aviary: Speckled Mousebird, Green Woodhoopoe, Yellow-necked Spurfowl, Violet-backed Starling, Viellot's Black Weaver.

3rd Aviary (can't be seen in this picture): Hermann's Tortoise, Red-legged Partridge, Oystercatcher, Stone Curlew, Hoopoe, European Goldfinch.

The Oropendola and White-crested Turaco and were housed in the section of aviaries near the Cattle House when I visited and the Weaver was already in the aviary.

Correct but these aviaries will not stand for long anymore as they normally disappear with the modernisation of the Pig House.

With the great blue turaco (and other turaco species), congo peafowl en several curassow species these aviaries hold a very important part of the bird collection.
