Perhaps this is a sign introducing vocabulary terms to visitors. I've actually noticed this phenomenon happening in various zoos. Empty sign spots are filled with definitions for such terms as "Introduced Species", "Keystone Species", "Symiosis", etc...
Are those prehensile-tailed porcupines up at the top? How many animals share this enclosure and how much bigger is it than what is shown in the photo?
