Phoenix Zoo - Tortoises

August 2008. These tortoises are in with the Mhorr's gazelles and kori bustards.

Maybe they're african spurred tortoise.

Yeah they look like Sulcatas.

Do any other zoos have mixed species displays with spur thighs and antelope? I always thought it would be a cool idea. There aren't a lot of mammal-reptile mixes around that I'm aware of. Maybe in Europe? I recall hearing that Brookfield once kept a species of crocodile in the Ibex Island exhibit with baboons and ibex. Probably quite a while back!

I know santa barbara zoo has their spurred tortoises in with ground hornbills, crowned cranes, and giraffes.

Most mammal-reptile mixed displays often include tortoise, turtles, or iguanas....I have seen some with crocodililans too (mixed with primates, fruit bats, or muntjac).

Hogle Zoo has aldabra tortoises with a kangaroo, a wallaby, and a pair of coscoroba swans. Zoo Boise used to keep red-footed tortoises with their cotton-top tamarins.

oh and by the way, I can confirm these as African spurred tortoises
