Orangutan Exhibit - New In 2011

I did have one question about this exhibit but you answered it on another photo. And that was going to be if the orang-utans had access to the plants at the back. And as you said they don't. My other questions would be why bother building an exhibit that is already past its use by date? Why are there no climbing structures around the majority of the exhibit? What does Phoenix Zoo expect the apes to do all day? Maybe I'm just used to Melbourne Zoo's orang-utan exhibit and I'm hard to please because of it but this is ridiculously inappropriate for the species it is intended for. I try to be as fair as possible when I can only see an exhibit from photos but if this was built at Noah's Ark Zoo or some roadside zoo everybody on this website would be bashing it and I think the fact that it was built at a very respectable institution that has so many great successes and $5 million dollars to spend on this particular exhibit makes it even less forgivable.

@ PAT - Your assessment is 100% correct. I have seen it in person and it is a disgrace - especially for what they spent on it.
