That is what I thought, as I don't recall them from my 2008 visit. Also, there was not a sign detailing what was inside this exhibit, nor did I see any animals.
It almost looks like the whole aviary area was undergoing some refreshing, possibly the reason for a lack of free-flying birds and empty lizard exhibits.
