Over 220,000 visitors pay an extra fee to touch the stingrays (plus even more money for food) and to pet the animals is $2 for members and $3 for non-members. Children are free, but even averaging $2 per person that equals $440,000 each and every year. It is surprising that San Diego Zoo, with its massive attendance, doesn't open a stingray touch tank. Then again, perhaps there is no desire to infringe on SeaWorld territory!
