Phoenix Zoo shipped out the Nubian Ibex in the very late 90's I want to say about 1999. I remember Arctic Wolves in what is now the Maned Wolf / Giant Anteater exhibit, but if they ever had red wolves it was prior to my first visit in 1987.

Thanks for the information Ituri. I recently purchased a large coffee-table-style book called "American Zoos" (1992) and it profiles 18 American zoos. In the Phoenix Zoo section there is a paragraph that includes these words:
"On the far north end of the zoo are the endangered red wolves. A large scenic pond is found across the way from the wolves' habitat. It's a haven for waterfowl and birds native to Phoenix."

That's really quite strange. It sounds as though its describing the current maned wolf exhibit. That had Arctic Wolves until the early 90s at which point they were replaced by Mexican gray wolves which were there until about 1997 when the exhibit on the Arizona Trail was added. Perhaps they confused red wolves and Mexican wolves?
