Pittsburgh Zoo - Future Walrus Exhibit

July 2008. Eventually this pool will be home to walruses, but until then the zoo plans to fill it with sand tiger sharks. The walk-through tunnel is all ready to go, but just needs animals to look at!

This is currently filled with a number of sand tiger sharks, but walruses have apparently been pushed back until...who knows?

@snowleopard Well Walruses never happened in Pittsburgh sadly, this is currently the home of the Nations only Elephant seals. Pretty cool that the Pittsburgh Zoo still ended up getting a rarity in this exhibit.

@Toledo Zoo Guide Both elephant seals have passed away, the zoo no longer holds the species. Pittsburgh was also not necessarily the only holder as several rescue centers usually have some, including sometimes at SeaWorld San Diego (though not necessarily viewable to the public). As of fall last year SeaWorld Orlando has a female living behind the scenes.
