Pittsburgh Zoo - Orangutan exhibit

July 2008. Indoors, small, dark, disgustingly tiny. There is no outdoor access for these great apes.

Wow,and you thought toronto was bad, wew!

Hahaha. Pittsbugh wins my award for the worst orangutan exhibit in North America, and the Toronto Zoo's enclosure actually looks good compared to this one! In Pittsburgh there is very little space, all concrete, all indoors, all fake, all terrible...

This on looks really dark, did they even have lights?

There was some lighting, but overall it was an extremely dark enclosure.

This photo shows at least a third of the entire orangutan exhibit at the zoo, and with zero outdoor access and nothing but fake trees and cement (and a pretty mural) this is my nomination for the worst orang enclosure in North America.;)

@snowleopard I am from the pgh zoo and believe me i agree. But after our jungle oddysey exhibit is finished, we are making the conservation solarium which will include a very nice indoor/outdoor exhibit for our orangutans
