this beluga died after a month or 2. i was very lucky to see the whole treatment including blood tests. that was my first time watching a big marine mammal treatment. was amazing.
I was doing some research on the beluga whales at the PDZ and, if I'm not mistaken and maybe drzoomi you would know, the whale to the right is Beethoven. After the death of Qannik, Beethoven was moved to Sea World in San Antonio. Everyone knows now that the Georgia Aquarium is building their dolphin exhibit. Becasue of the construction they moved the three whales to Sea World San Antonio. One of the whales, Nico, died at Sea World. Natasha stayed behind at Sea World for breeding purposes. Long story short, Beethoven is now at the Georgia Aquarium with Maris for breeding. Wow! They can really travel!
Since then, Grayson and Qinu were sent to Georgia Aquarium. In 2012, Beethoven sired a calf to Maris, and in 2014, he was sent to Shedd Aquarium, where he remains today with 7 other whales, including 2 other adult males, while Maris had a calf in 2015. Maris's calf died, as well as Maris, in 2015, and Grayson was eventually sent to Shedd in 2016 and replaced by Nunavik, Aurek, and Maple, then Aurek moved to Shedd because after he got Qinu pregnant. Naya, Mauyak, Kayavak, Bella, and Kimalu are the other whales in Shedd with the three males.
