Exhibits of Prospect Park close to opening

Individual exhibits - burrow exhibit
I'm having a hard time understanding what this is. Could you please describe how this exhibit works? What species does it hold?

Exhibit is for praire dogs and the public or kids go through burrows into the exhibit. the acrylic domes are where they pop up into the exhibits to be up close and personal with the praire dogs.

Thanks for the answer Rob - In that one area there is plexiglass and the rest has a dry moat and overhangs - much unlike one zoo that did one and let the meerkats into the exhibit and then promptly watched them all leave due to no overhang. What made it worse is when it rained and they forgot to have a good drainage system, all the meerkats drowned. They should have shot the designer!

Yes and Yes :D

Enlarge the "original" and you'll see a low plexiglass (by the looks of it) barrier in front of the family

Well, now the exhibit makes sense :D Thanks for the answer Zooplantman, and thanks for the info dmanwarren.

EDIT: just found a photo that better shows the plexiglass - http://www.zoochat.com/599/prospect-park-zoo-2010-prairie-dog-191827/
