The Snowleopard family was soooo lucky to see the sun bear out. It is a very elderly bear that prefers to stay inside the night house virtually full time. Snowleopard told me they saw it on their first walk through the zoo (when this photo was taken I presume) and then later when I walked by with him we saw it again. Unbelievable. I am at the zoo just about every week and that is I think only the second time I have seen it out in the last three years.

Bear is still alive. I actually saw it out about a week ago, which I think was only the first or second time I had seen it out since your visit almost a year ago.

The sun bear exhibit can connect to the adjacent warty pig exhibit by opening a gate in the rockwork. Currently, they often give the warty pigs access to both yards in the afternoon. At the moment I do not know if they will make both sides a permanent warty pig exhibit or if they will seek a new species. I have heard one possibility, but it is speculation at this point, so I do not want to post it.
