September 22, 2014. Two of the four Canon big white lenses I saw photographing the baby elephant. One of the other two is mine of course. Canon claims their telephoto lenses are white to avoid overheating of the fluorite glass but I think it is just a marketing ploy so everyone can recognize their lenses at a glance. (Of course some Sony telephotos are also white, so who knows?).
