A rare treat indeed and one of the real highlights of the trip. I was amazed how active this animal was.

Thanks! She was a tricky subject because she was so very active. Wonderful exhibit animal - weird and showy!

Really hard to make a photo of this hyperactive creature ... at least the long nose is moving on almost every photo.
But I was absolutely surprised when I saw that whole animal is under the surface and digging through the bark. Do elephant shrews normally dig tunnels under the leaves and bark???
