Yes the bottom is underwater viewing for the snake. there is a good bit of land and I shot this photo this way cause I wanted people to see how tall the exhibit is. the mamba has a lot of climbing opportunities in this exhibit.
are there any other shots in the gallery or of yours which show the land area? Underwater viewing for a mamba just sounds really weird, and I would hope there is a lot of land because black mambas are fairly terrestrial (as opposed to the strongly-arboreal green mambas).
