Riverbanks Zoo opened on April 25th, 1974, and this grizzly bear enclosure (as well as the other few grottoes still around) were all unveiled on opening day. Of course almost 40 years has gone by and such enclosures are badly outdated, and it is remarkable how similar this bear exhibit is in comparison to grottoes at Milwaukee Zoo. Same design team?
