Great to see these guys breeding. I'd like to think these could get established in European zoos but I have a feeling that Prague's pair and the single animal that moved to Plzen are the entire founder population, which doesn't bode well. Does anyone know better?
When I visited Plzen few weeks ago, they had a pair on show (very dark brown female and a red male). That makes together with the Prague´s pair at least 4 founders. But this species can be easily imported from Africa, so that if there will be interest from other zoos, new founders are not the problem.
BTW there are currently 3 youngs (but I never managed to get them all in one pic).
This is a brilliant photo - not least because, in my experience, waiting for this species to stay still for a second was a thankless (and fruitless) task. It would indeed be excellent if this species were to become established in Europe - especially if it were held instead of the omnipresent meerkat by some zoos.
