Ring-Tailed Lemur Cage

Aug. 10th, 2011.
I still don't understand why they don't build a sutible exhibit next to the other lemur species. They have an open, spacious exhibit, why don't the ring-tails have the same thing.

I have been told that doing exactly what you suggest, demolishing the old monkey exhibit here and replacing it with a modern exhibit, will be the next big project now that the otter exhibit has been renovated.

Is there any kind of time frame for that to occur? Will all of the old cages be demolished?

Mu understanding is that the next major project will be the demolition of these old cages, the old small mammal house that houses the mongoose lemurs, and the old gibbon exhibit.

The ring-tailed lemurs apparently are leaving shortly (or already gone) so I'm guessing that means this exhibit will be eliminated in the foreseeable future.

The new primate area will feature the current excellent sifaka/black and white lemur complex and new exhibits for lemurs, some species of monkey (guenons most likely), and gibbons. Fewer species in excellent exhibits seems to be the plan.
