What did you think of the lemur exhibits here? These replaced a set of older monkey exhibits that were like the ones that the mangabeys and ring-tailed lemurs were in. Hopefully these will be replaced in the near future.

The steel cages for ring-tailed lemurs, porcupines, golden-bellied mangabeys and lar gibbons are all disgraceful, but the black and white ruffed lemur and Coquerel's sifaka enclosures (which I believe were both built in 2004) are excellent, spacious and modern. I'm actually a fan of large mesh primate habitats, such as the ones found in San Diego Zoo's Lost Forest area and Houston Zoo's World of Primates zone.
I can't imagine why they went through the trouble creating modern, spacious habitats without including the other Malagasy natives on the premises. (Mongoose Lemurs, Spider Tortoise, Ringtailed Lemurs) I really enjoy the Sacramento Zoo and it's animal collection, but I was really hoping for an excellent mixed species/immersion exhibit. They apparently had other plans...
