Tamandua Exhibit

Aug. 10th, 2011.
This makes me appreciate all the space the tamandua has at the Buffalo Zoo.

What happened to the Geoffrey's Cat that was in there?

It was old and was not replaced when it passed. From recent discussions on small cats in zoos here it seems that the AZA has phased out Geoffrey's cats, although our resident cat expert here at ZooChat, Arizona Docent, said that there are still some in private facilities.

Arizona Docent is right about that. I believe there to be a lot of them in private collections though. I'm not sure the number as we will never really know with all the secretive owners around, but they are doing very well in private hands. The last black Geofforys was up for breeding loan a while back. not sure whatever came of it though.
