It's great to finally get a bunch of photos from the St. Louis Zoo in the ZooChat gallery, as it is one of the few major American zoological institutions that hasn't been represented until now. Many of the African enclosures at the zoo are difficult to judge, as the habitat boundaries are very well concealed.
I wonder that no other member here has posted pics of the Saint Louis Zoo yet, I think, a lot of them has visit that zoo ? I was there in 2005, and its a really good zoo. I was impressed what they have done with the old bird,-monkey and reptile house. Pics of that houses follow.
And this red river hog exhibit is one of the best i've seen. Because these hogs are not that aggressive than others, its easy to keep them together with other species.

Many people who take road trips or fly to the U.S. for zoo trips often either go down the west coast and hit a bunch of zoos, or they go down the east coast and do the same thing. Occasionally someone will visit a lot of zoos around the Great Lakes as there are loads of major zoos there...but St. Louis and other collections like Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Omaha, etc are in awkward locations that are a little bit out of the way. The St. Louis is probably the best U.S. zoo that I've never visited and I'd love to eventually go there.
